Job Description
Oversee, control, and direct the operations of a manufacturing facility. Manage the organization’s manpower, technology, equipment, and raw materials to produce a quality, profitable and marketable product.
Major tasks, responsibilities and key accountabilities:
- Manage production to ensure that products meet customer service and quality requirements
- Manage the work-in-process, finished goods, and raw material inventories to maximize inventory turns and plant efficiencies, and to meet company inventory objectives
· Daily tracking of production (IE: milled boxes, assembled boxes, assembled drawer boxes, assembled cabinetry doors, ETC.)
· Responsible for total master schedule for production
· Inspection of Quality Control (Daily)
· Putting together shipping schedule for installation
· Holding key employees accountable for production performance and deadlines
- Incorporate Six Sigma and lean manufacturing principles across plant operations
- Manage and integrate new product development into existing operations in a cost-effective manner
- Direct initiatives to achieve cost reduction, manufacturing efficiencies, and product quality improvements for all operations
- Maintain a maintenance program to minimize downtime
- Ensure workplace safety and comply with legal and governmental requirements such as OSHA, EPA, etc.
- Maintain and upgrade a production reporting system to manage cost, quality, scheduling and inventory at each major process
- Leads the overall manufacturing process from raw material receipt through the fabrication and packaging process
- Directs and coordinates activities and resources aimed at being the best cost supplier in both relative costs and asset utilization
- Commutes to Nogales, MX facility to help grow the production facility and new processes in Mexico.
- In charge of employee recruitment and developing/maintaining employee training program
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Business Administration, Manufacturing Operations, or Engineering. Eager engineering graduates strongly urged to apply
- 3 years of manufacturing experience, or equivalent experience
- Prior wood product or building product experience is preferred - commercial fixtures
- Demonstrated staff leadership
- Prior Six Sigma and/or lean manufacturing experience
